John has been working in the research and training areas since the 1970s.The first part of his career was in the Human Services sector where he worked as a therapist and community organizer. Later John was the Director of Research at Public/Private Ventures, a policy firm that addressed the unemployment and education issues among youth. In 1983, John moved to Villanova. In addition to heading up OPTIR, John regularly teaches courses on both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Highly regarded in the field of Program Evaluation, John has had his work published in several premier journals. He is the former President of the Eastern Evaluation Research Society and the Industrial Human Service Council and remains active in a number of professional associations.

John majored in Philosophy during his undergraduate years at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. Later he earned a Masters in Social Service from Bryn Mawr College and a Doctorate in Social Science from the Medical College of Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities:
John is responsible for oversight of OPTIR. He does extensive work in University strategic planning and training and provides internal consultation to OPTIR’s institutional research projects. Along with Joan O’Brien, John coordinates the VQI program.
