Villanova Leaders Seminar Series

The focus of this series is to bring together talented Villanova administrators and offer them in-depth administrative learning specially tailored to higher education.  This training fills an important gap; namely, that most of us have not formally studied the field of higher education.  These Villanova administrators will have the opportunity to develop knowledge and to build friendships and networks across the campus.

The goals of the Villanova Leaders Seminar Series are:

1.  To build cross-campus networks that will facilitate and enhance effective work.

2.  To develop deeper knowledge of the field of higher education.

3.  To better understand Villanova's mission, policies and practices in key functions.

The curriculum will cover core knowledge including topics such as:

  • Higher Education; A Unique Field - A Unique Challenge

  • The Changing Populations of Academe: Students, Faculty and Staff

  • The Economics of Higher Education

  • Strategic Planning and Institutional Research

  • Legal Issues

  • IT in Higher Ed

  • Academics: Core Process/Core Challenges

  • Human Resources in the University Setting

  • The Contemporary Academic Library

The training is unique because it robustly focuses on higher education and concertedly accents professional networking.

A certificate of achievement will be awarded to those who complete all sessions.

Please note that this series concentrates on learning about higher education.  Its aim is not to develop interactional leadership skills.  These interactional skills are addressed in OPTIR's Leadership Training Program.
